A year ago our team completed it's first Extra Life event. Due to the fact that it's for a great cause, we had so much fun, and had such great support, we decided we are doing it again.
Extra Life is an annual 24-hour gaming marathon held world wide with the goal of raising money for local hospitals. This year it begins Oct. 15, 2011 at 8:00 AM. Our team will be raising money for Children's Medical Center of Dallas, TX.
We choose to do Extra Life for several reasons.
(1) It's for helping our local hospital that has helped kids in our own family. Children's Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital as well as the only pediatric hospital designated as a Level 1 trauma center in Texas. This means they provide the highest level of care to not only Dallas, but to children flown in from all over the state.
(2) It's a simple charity. There are no huge gatherings, no venues to pay, no t-shirts given out. Every player plays where they want. This means that 100% of money raised goes directly to the hospitals. None of the donations collected are used for any other purpose than to help children.
(3) We love video games. Video games are one of our hobbies, so why not put that to good use and help some people.
Of course, all of this is not possible without the support of our friends, family, and even strangers. We ask that you consider donating towards Children's Medical Center. Any amount is accepted. Simply click any of our team members' names on the right. If you can't spare any money, then please share our page with your friends and family. It's amazing what can happen when you get the word out.
I hope that you enjoy our blog. We will have live video feeds and blog updates throughout the event.
Thank you for visiting and for supporting us!
